Off topic....

I know that this blog is supposed to be about our devotionals, but I wanted to share a new way in which God spoke to me this week. On Friday night I had the opportunity to attend a discussion put on by a panel of six women at Bethel Seminary who discussed their experiences in ministry and any challenges they had faced being women in this field. There were three points they made that especially stood out to me. Whether we agree with women in ministry or not I think these points are vital and can apply to our lives directly, especially on the houseboats this summer.

One of the women on the panel, Minoa Chang, discussed about her struggle in understanding what God's place was for her as a woman. This is not only a struggle for me as a woman, but as a human being and a child of God as well. She explained that when she asked God where her place was he responded with "A woman's place is wherever I put her. " This is so vital yet so easily over looked. Men and women are both put exactly where God wants us and we shouldn't question that. God has put us all on the water this summer, and although right now we don't know specifically what he will ask of us, I know that he put each of us here for a reason.

Building off of that, another woman on the panel, Wendy L. Patrick, enforced that God puts us in our circumstances for a reason. Sometimes, I think that I forget this and its easier for me to look at the big picture instead of the moments that God has put me in right then.

Another point that pulled this all together was that God equips you for what he calls you to. This is so encouraging to me, because a lot of the time I am so terrified of what God has asked me to do, and I forget to rely on him. God knows what we are doing and he won't give us something that he can't handle. He is always faithful.
