Internal Bleeding

"The genuine leader internalizes pain and disappointment and releases it to the fiery mercy of Christ"

The genuine leader does not let everyone know just how swamped with work he is. The genuine leader does not tell the campers just how early he got up to move the houseboat.

"Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of people, to be seen by them. Otherwise, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. " Matthew 6:1

Christians are sooo good at recognizing people and their accomplishments. It is incredibly easy to fall into a pattern of serving for the approval of those around me, or whining for the pity of those around me. It tell God "I want to bleed, but make sure it's a shallow cut, and spread the blood around so everyone can see it please. Make MY suffering known by all, so many will lift ME up."

Instead, the genuine leader bleeds internally, knowing the Father, who sees in secret, will reward them.

  1. Corsetto Stiletto! The hypothetical situation comes to mind where someone else gets thanked/praised for the hard work that you did, but alas(!), when you're concerned about bringing out the best in others, you take yourself far less seriously. Also, you know the condition of your servant's heart by the way that you respond when you're treated like one. To HIM be the glory, and honor, and praise forever and ever!
